México

I have to admit that my time in Cancún has been amazing, even better than I first thought. My first days here went quite fast. Mostly I just hang out with some couchsurfer who showed the main shopping centre in the centre of Cancún, called Plaza las Americás. You basically find everything from there, a big supermarket Chedraui, movie theatre, many pharmacies, clothing stores, restaurants and so on. It was also funny to realize how the big shopping centres are something important for Mexicans. For example on Sundays the whole Mexican family might go and spend all inside the shopping centre, just taking their time there and meeting friends. For me as a Finnish it is fun because I think in Finland the shopping centres are more likely places where you go to do your shopping, maybe eat something but after a few hours, you leave. I don’t really like all the noise and crowded aisles. I prefer to go outside or to the restaurant near the beach where I can have a nice view.
And even Cancún is quite an international city for comparing other cities in Mexico, I have to admit that please, learn Spanish well if you decide to step out of the tourist zone. I have had many situations here where I have had to ask for help but I think my skills are still in the beginning because I cannot understand all the words. One day I left my place and I tried to find my way to the shopping centre. I stopped at a local gas station and asked for help. The lady behind the cashier started to speak to me automatically in Spanish because well, she could not speak English at all. I was just nodding my head and repeating “Sí” and just tried to be cool there. I mean it is ok, I really love Mexicans because they are really super helpful. Even if they don’t speak the same language they still try to help you as much as they can.
The place I stayed first days located in an area called Marduk, only 5 minutes walking by shopping area and buses/taxis. I found the place through Airbnb and I really enjoyed my staying there. It was also suitable for my budget, 7 night cost about 90 euros. And yes, my original plan was to stay only 6 days in Cancún but here I am guys, I just decided to extend my stay here because I’m in love with Mexico!😊
In Mexico, I visited many interesting places f.ex. Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Jardin del Eden, Akulum, Isla Mujeres, Isla Blanca and so on. I just amazed how good time I had here. I am still in shock because nature here is so fascinating and people really helpful and warm-hearted.
So I let these pictures and videos to “talk” 😉
