First days in Montego Bay
I managed to arrive safely to my first destination in Jamaica, Montego Bay city. The flight went well even it was quite painful to sit over 10 hours in plain but now I can say that it was worth of it. After passport control, I went outside of Sangster International airport and my Couchsurfing host was there to pick me up. Usually, I have a travel budget and Couchsurfing is the best way for low-cost travellers but it is better to first read some information about Couchsurfing and what it is all about. It is not a chance to get a “free accommodation” even basically it is but usually, surfers/hosts are open-minded people who are willing to get know people from other cultures, share interesting stories, help the host in her/his house etc.
My host’s house locates about 12 min from the airport to the East and the area is very beautiful and calm. There’s a small beach next to the house but unfortunately, it is a little bit dirty because of all the waste which has drifted there from the ocean. But I won’t complain, the first morning in Montego Bay was great! I went to the beach to get some sun (and well I burnt my back and butt:D) and swim in the refreshing and salty ocean.

| Doctor's Cave Beach |
My host and his friends were very kind because in the afternoon they wanted to show me one of the “main beaches” in Montego Bay. So we ended up to Doctor’s Cave beach which was crowded but we found someplace to sit down and had some ice cold beers. It is good to remember that you are committed to paying some entrance fee to the beach area, usually, it costs 6 US dollars and you can also rent an umbrella, deck chairs etc.
Later we had a dinner in the restaurant called Margarita which is one of the main places for parties around the Doctor’s Cave beach area.
Ihan kiva aloitus lomalle. 😉
No problem at all!
